About this role

This position collaborates closely with MPL’s Operations Center, MPLX Business Development, and operational support teams across Gathering & Processing and Logistics & Storage. The successful candidate will contribute to pressure control, system optimization, and leak detection efforts. It also provides technical support to field personnel and control room operations.

In addition to day-to-day responsibilities, the engineer evaluates pipeline expansion opportunities and develops conceptual designs for new business ventures. These efforts directly impact the performance and growth of MPLX. The role regularly involves participation in high-visibility projects.

Stakeholder engagement includes coordination with internal teams such as MPL Operations, Logistics, Business Development, Process Engineering, and Project Engineering groups. The position offers cross-functional collaboration. It fosters a collaborative team environment that welcomes new ideas and diverse perspectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering required; chemical or mechanical preferred.
  • Four (4) years of related experience required.
  • Experience with leak detection preferred.
  • Knowledge of pressure control processes for pipeline operations.
  • Familiarity with hydraulic analyses including pump and valve sizing.
  • Understanding of pipeline system optimization and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Perform hydraulic analyses to evaluate capacity of existing pipeline configurations and develop logical expansion strategies, including sizing of pumps, motors, control valves, relief systems, and associated piping.
  • Apply pressure control processes to recommend setpoints that prevent overpressure and ensure safe, reliable pipeline operations; review and approve pressure control setpoint change notifications.
  • Provide daily technical support to operating teams to improve safety, reliability, and efficiency of MPLX’s pipeline systems.
  • Ensure quality and compliance by reviewing engineering calculations, maintaining pressure control integrity, and verifying regulatory documentation meets standards.
  • Support after-hours operations on a rotating basis, providing assistance with leak detection and hydraulics-related issues.
