Dewberry is currently seeking a motivated Senior Traffic Engineer to join a large team of traffic engineers in Fairfax, VA, Richmond, VA or Virginia Beach, VA offices. Projects range from local community-focused safety and multimodal projects to large freeway improvement projects. This position offers tremendous career growth potential in a highly collaborative environment for local and national transportation clients.

Primary responsibilities include performing and managing traffic engineering design and studies related to work zone traffic control, signing and pavement markings, traffic signals, lighting, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), and traffic operational analyses. Experience in all disciplines is not required. The role involves design and analysis for various traffic-related tasks in a team environment.

Collaborate with roadway, structures, hydraulics, and environmental groups within the Transportation business unit. Responsibilities may include management of traffic-related tasks, preparing design and cost estimates, meeting with clients, and assisting in proposal development. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential for monitoring schedules and budgets.

Ideal candidate has a minimum of 5 years of traffic engineering experience, including VDOT, MDOT, and/or design-build projects. Lead and mentor junior traffic engineers while enjoying flexible work hours and part-time telework. Requirements

  • BS in Civil Engineering
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in traffic engineering
  • MicroStation experience required
  • PE license preferred
  • PTOE preferred
  • VDOT, MSHA, MDTA and/or design-build experience preferred
  • Proficiency with analysis software (VISSIM, Synchro, SimTraffic, HCS) preferred
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
