Join our Rail Transport & Technology team and support clients throughout the asset lifecycle – from strategic planning and design to maintenance and decommissioning.
Deliver high-quality consultancy to operators, leasing companies, infrastructure managers, regulators and government bodies. Apply systems engineering methods to tackle complex rail challenges. Draw on Frazer-Nash’s cross-sector expertise to develop innovative solutions.
Provide technical leadership across diverse projects. Current and recent projects include improving fleet reliability, advising on standards across the UK and Ireland, and rolling stock service life assessments. Strategy development for new rail vehicles and dynamic modelling for on-track machines are also key areas.
Mentor and develop junior engineers while applying the Common Safety Method (CSM RA) for new technologies. This role offers the chance to shape sustainable transport through technical leadership and innovative problem-solving. Early applications are encouraged before the 12th January 2026 closing date.
Requirements
- Chartered Engineer with proven rail industry experience
- Strong knowledge of TSIs, NTSNs and Rail Industry Standards
- Skilled in systems engineering and translating client needs into technical requirements
- Consultancy or project management experience (desirable)
- Knowledge of asset management, maintenance practices and safety methods (desirable)
- Experience in dynamic modelling and vehicle gauging (desirable)

Benefits
- £75,000 - £90,000 salary dependent on experience
- Flexible hybrid working between office, client sites and home
- Burton-upon-Trent location (other UK offices considered)
