About this role

VHB is seeking a Senior Environmental Engineer, Geologist, or Hydrogeologist to join our growing National Site Investigation & Remediation (SI&R) practice as a Project Manager. This hybrid role can be based out of New England offices or New York City. The SI&R team partners with public and private clients to manage properties impacted by hazardous substances and petroleum releases.

Provide comprehensive services across the full project lifecycle, from site identification and characterization through risk assessment, remedial design, implementation, and regulatory closure. Develop and manage site investigation and remediation field programs while leveraging technology for data management and visualization. Work on diverse projects across multiple jurisdictions throughout the United States.

Collaborate with a talented and multidisciplinary team in a supportive, team-oriented culture. Deliver exceptional client service while identifying and mitigating environmental liabilities. Mentor junior team members during field exploration and testing.

Join a national practice with opportunities to interpret investigation findings, develop conceptual site models, and achieve regulatory closure. Gain exposure to State and federal regulations including CERCLA. Contribute to long-term monitoring programs and technical reporting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering, Geology, or related field required
  • 8+ years of professional environmental site characterization and remediation experience required
  • OSHA 40 hr. HAZWOPER certification and annual refresher certifications required
  • Professional Licensure or Certification (PE, PG, CHMM, QEP)
  • Strong understanding of State and federal regulatory requirements including CERCLA
  • Strong knowledge of site assessment/characterization, data/statistical analysis, remediation techniques, and risk assessment
  • Experience working on contaminated sites within multiple jurisdictions including interaction with local, State, and Federal regulators
  • PFAS experience and knowledge preferred

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with clients to identify and mitigate environmental liabilities associated with property they own or manage
  • Develop and manage effective site investigation and remediation field programs
  • Provide mentoring and hands-on support to junior team members during field exploration and testing
  • Develop conceptual site models to help interpret and communicate investigation findings
  • Leverage technology to support data management and visualization
  • Manage Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, Engineering Evaluation/Cost Analyses, Remedial Investigation/Feasibility Studies and long-term monitoring programs
  • Review and write technical reports, correspondence, notes, and memoranda
