About this role

Severn Trent is undertaking a £415m project to replace 870 miles of old water pipes across the Midlands, the biggest investment in water infrastructure in a decade. As Network Construction Manager, you will be accountable for planning and successful completion of specific Mains Renewal activity. This role helps improve water quality, reduce leaks, and enhance reliability for millions.

You will oversee smaller-scale customer hotspot activities that are geographically spread, including high-profile jobs. Set and direct strategy for these within the region, collaborating with Network Construction teams on AMP8 Mains Relay strategy. Work closely with Design, Programme, and Assurance roles to deliver the regional programme.

No direct people management, but supervise Business Leader’s teams and provide support. Deputize for the Network Construction Business Leader during absence, overseeing up to 150 people including Managers, Supervisors, and Logistics. Engage with various stakeholders in this dynamic environment.

Requirements

  • Full driving licence
  • Exceptional understanding of CDM Regulations and ability to demonstrate in practice
  • Proven track record of successfully managing, motivating, and leading a large technical team
  • Exposure in identifying risks and opportunities
  • Ability to build successful working relationships as part of a team
  • Strong leadership and strategic planning skills for fast-paced environment
  • Familiarity with mains renewal and water infrastructure construction
  • Experience in construction programme delivery and stakeholder engagement

Responsibilities

  • Oversee smaller scale Mains Renewal activities, ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, and health and safety standards
  • Set and direct the strategy for customer hotspot activities within the region
  • Collaborate with Network Construction teams to implement the AMP8 Mains Relay strategy
  • Work closely with Design, Programme, and Assurance roles to deliver the regional programme
  • Ensure compliance with external CDM Rules, including Health and Safety
  • Act as the appointed Principal Contractor under CDM Rules
  • Deputize for the Network Construction Business Leader during their absence
  • Supervise teams and oversee up to 150 people including Network Construction Managers and Supervisors
