About this role

H2M architects + engineers, a multidiscipline architectural, engineering, and environmental consulting firm, is expanding its Water and Wastewater Engineering team. The role seeks an experienced Project Engineer with strong technical backgrounds in water resources, stormwater, and wastewater systems. Ideal candidates have expertise in biological nutrient removal technologies, hydraulics, sludge conditioning and disposal, treatment, storage, distribution projects, and civil/site design.

Perform engineering work in water and wastewater treatment processes from design through construction. Lead engineering evaluations, execute design calculations, and prepare reports, plans, and specifications with senior staff support. Conduct construction administration, including shop drawing reviews, RFI responses, and construction change orders.

Manage project budgets, delivery schedules, subconsultants, and coordinate with engineering and architecture departments. Supervise and mentor junior engineers, conduct field investigations, inspections, and performance checks. Interface with clients and construction managers on various projects.

Assist with business development, proposal writing, and budgeting in a team-oriented environment. H2M preserves small company connections while focusing on people, clients, and communities. Push boundaries and redefine design in water and wastewater engineering.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional work experience in the design and/or design services of water/wastewater
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • FE/EIT required, PE highly desired
  • Strong verbal/written communication skills, organizational skills
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, Teams, Outlook)
  • Understanding of Autodesk Revit software
  • Expertise in biological nutrient removal technologies, hydraulics, sludge conditioning and disposal

Responsibilities

  • Perform engineering work in water and wastewater treatment process through design to construction
  • Lead engineering evaluations, execute design calculations, and prepare reports, plans, and specifications
  • Conduct construction administration and on-site resident support activities, including shop drawing reviews and RFI responses
  • Perform detailed engineering calculations and analysis
  • Lead development of construction documents (plans and specifications)
  • Manage project budgets and delivery schedules
  • Supervise and mentor junior engineers and technical staff
  • Interface with clients and construction managers
