About this role
Are you an experienced Site Manager looking to lead critical vegetation management projects across the UK’s rail network? Ground Control seeks a proactive and safety-focused professional to oversee vegetation management works within Network Rail infrastructure. This hybrid role combines hands-on site supervision with remote project management for flexibility and operational control.
You’ll lead site teams to deliver works safely, efficiently, and to high quality standards. Responsibilities include managing vegetation clearance, coordinating with clients and subcontractors, and ensuring regulatory compliance. Daily tasks involve site inspections, audits, and producing progress reports.
Liaise with Network Rail representatives, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders in a collaborative environment. Support planning future works, resource allocation, and material procurement. Maintain safety, productivity, and quality across dynamic rail projects.

Requirements
- Proven experience as a Site Manager, ideally within the rail industry
- Strong understanding of vegetation management and environmental best practice
- PTS (Personal Track Safety) certification
- Excellent working knowledge of HSE and CDM regulations
- Confident in preparing and reviewing RAMS and site documentation
- Effective communicator with strong leadership skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and project management tools
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel
Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate vegetation clearance works across Network Rail infrastructure
- Conduct and review RAMS, site briefings, and work package plans
- Lead and support site teams to maintain safety, productivity, and quality
- Liaise with Network Rail representatives, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and railway regulations
- Produce site documentation, progress reports, and close-out paperwork
- Support planning of future works, resource allocation, and material procurement
- Undertake regular site inspections and audits to identify and resolve issues
