About this role

Support the Carbon Capital Team in all aspects of project development, management, and general engineering for energy-related projects with a focus on energy conservation. Play a key role in maximizing Cox Conserves projects while consulting across the team and company to ensure project integrity and alignment with goals.

Conduct detailed facility-level energy assessments and reporting, alongside financial modeling, budgeting, and oversight of construction, operations, and infrastructure assets. Perform periodic inspections, preventive maintenance, corrective actions, and failure analysis to maintain project effectiveness.

Collaborate with contract project managers, hire and manage vendors, and integrate projects into operations through training implementation. File reports with utilities and government entities, analyze power bills for incentives, and manage spare equipment inventory.

Contribute to strategic planning for annual and long-term capital budgets, execute models for investment IRR and environmental impacts, and conduct sustainability audits to build a strong project portfolio. Provide ongoing support to the Carbon Capital Team for sustained environmental impact reduction.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or similar, with 4+ years related experience (or MS + 2+ years, or 8 years without degree)
  • 3+ years project development/management experience
  • Results-oriented with demonstrated ability to manage resources to deliver
  • Strong aptitude to independently identify, develop, and manage projects
  • Experience with energy assessments, financial modeling, and sustainability audits
  • Knowledge of energy conservation projects and environmental impact tracking

Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed facility-level energy assessments and reports
  • Identify, develop, and manage energy-related capital projects focused on energy conservation
  • Execute financial models to determine investment IRR and energy/environmental impacts
  • Provide oversight to contract project managers in capital project execution
  • Perform and manage facility sustainability audits to identify projects
  • Hire and manage vendors for equipment operation, maintenance, repair, and replacement
  • Assist in design, construction, commissioning, and operations for projects
  • Report project aspects and performance to internal sustainability databases
