About this role

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and talented Technical Lead Structural Engineer to lead and support structural engineering efforts across our renewable energy portfolio and HV Substations. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise and project leadership skills. They will support the design, development, and implementation of utility-scale solar, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and HV infrastructure projects.

Lead the structural engineering design of renewable energy systems and HV power plants, including foundations, steel and concrete support structures, platforms, enclosures, and balance-of-plant structures. Develop and review design calculations, specifications, drawings, and construction documents in compliance with industry codes and Australian standards. Perform structural analysis for static and dynamic loads including wind and seismic loads.

Provide technical oversight and mentorship to senior and junior engineers and designers. Collaborate with civil, electrical, and geotechnical teams on integrated renewable energy and HV substations project delivery. Engage with permitting authorities, third-party reviewers, and independent engineers to ensure project approvals and compliance.

Lead value engineering and constructability reviews to optimise designs and reduce costs without compromising quality. Participate in design reviews for renewable projects and HV power plants, evaluating progress and implementing corrective actions. Contribute to ambitious solar and battery energy storage projects delivering innovative solutions for a sustainable future.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering (Master’s degree preferred)
  • Professional Engineer (CPEng accredited or in the process of that)
  • Minimum of 12 years of structural engineering experience, including at least 7 years in renewable projects as well as HV power plant
  • Proven experience in structural design for solar PV (fixed-tilt or tracker), battery storage, or substations
  • Proficiency with structural design software and AutoCAD
  • Strong understanding of structural engineering codes and renewable energy-specific standards
  • Excellent communication and project management skills
  • Ability to work independently and in multidisciplinary teams across multiple projects
