This position performs structural analysis, civil engineering and drafting tasks related to cold formed steel framing in a fast-paced, high-volume professional environment. The engineer works closely with technical support to provide accurate information to customers. Collaborate with General Manager, Engineering Manager, Project Managers and Technicians for complete shop drawings and calculations.

Day-to-day involves reading and interpreting drawings, producing CAD/BIM detail packages for cold-formed steel structures including curtain wall, load bearing views, sections and 3D details. Perform structural calculations using analysis programs or manual methods. Ensure drawings and calculations are reviewed and approved by management.

Maintain customer relationships through courteous service and increase specification of ClarkDietrich products via shop drawings. Cooperatively work with team members, participate in office meetings and support technical services. Build skills to reach project completion through positive team spirit.

Requirements

Ability to read and accurately interpret drawings
Proficiency in producing CAD/BIM drawings for cold-formed steel structures
Knowledge of civil engineering principles for structural analysis and design
Experience performing structural calculations for cold-formed steel framing
Familiarity with truss designs, lateral bracing and stability analysis
Skill in using structural analysis programs or manual calculation methods
Capacity to collaborate on engineering tasks in fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

Maintain relationships with customers through courteous phone conversations and prompt customer service
Produce CAD/BIM production detail drawing packages of cold-formed steel structures including curtain wall, load bearing plan views, sections, 3D, isometric and other details
Design cold-formed steel structures including curtain and load bearing wall, lateral bracing, stability analysis and truss designs
Perform structural calculations using analysis programs or manual methods in a logical, reviewable format
Collaborate with team members to complete engineering tasks in a timely manner
Ensure project drawings and calculations are reviewed and approved by Project Manager, Engineering Manager or General Manager
Independently make decisions on structural design methods to protect public safety, health and welfare
Manage daily office and engineering duties through management tools and maintain a clean office environment
