About this role

This remote position supports utility-scale solar, wind, battery energy storage, thermal power, and infrastructure projects. SLC evaluates technical, commercial, environmental, social, and financial aspects for clients. Perform high quality design and consulting services on multidisciplined teams for domestic and international power projects.

Responsibilities include earth retention systems, deep and shallow foundation design, dam stability analyses, in-situ instrumentation, subsurface exploration, seismic stability, liquefaction analyses, ground improvement, groundwater wells, and field oversight.

Work within multidisciplined project teams on challenging power and industrial initiatives. Occasional domestic and international travel required for on-site quality surveillance of exploration, pile installation, and testing. Collaborate to deliver geotechnical services for power developers and financiers.

Develop technical reports for owners, developers, agencies, committees, and financiers. Advise on new projects and evaluate for financing support. Opportunity to engage with modern tools and lead in geotechnical engineering for renewables.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of detailed geotechnical design, including soil remediation, deep foundations, driven, predrilled, and helical pile design
  • Experience in design of power, transmission, or other heavy industry projects, including on-site quality surveillance of subsurface exploration programs, pile installation and pile testing
  • Experience in writing and providing support documentation for Geotechnical Engineering specifications or calculations
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical evaluation report writing

Responsibilities

  • Prepare geotechnical reports and calculations for conformity with project specifications
  • Prepare specifications for subsurface investigations, deep foundations, ground improvement, earth retaining systems, monitoring wells, water production wells, and general earthwork
  • Advise power project developers to support new utility-scale solar, wind, battery energy storage, thermal, and other projects
  • Evaluate new power and infrastructure projects independently to support financing
  • Develop technical reports for owners, developers, governmental agencies and committees, and financiers
  • Conduct occasional on-site quality surveillance of subsurface exploration programs, pile installation and pile testing
  • Perform occasional domestic and/or international travel
