About this role
The Marine Construction Manager oversees all marine construction activities for a large-scale EPC project in Qatar. This role manages marine civil works, dredging, piling, quay wall construction, jetty installation, and other offshore structures. It demands strong leadership and technical expertise while ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards.
Day-to-day involves leading supervision of construction to meet specifications, schedules, and budgets. Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and subcontractors for seamless execution. Oversee dredging, reclamation, piling, quay walls, breakwaters, and jetties while managing marine equipment like dredgers, barges, and cranes.
Work in a collaborative environment liaising with clients, consultants, government authorities, subcontractors, vendors, and labor. Ensure adherence to HSE standards, local regulations, and international marine standards such as PIANC, IMO, BS, and ASTM. Monitor progress, prepare reports, mitigate risks, and resolve technical issues.
This position offers involvement in major infrastructure projects with opportunities to apply extensive marine construction knowledge. Features a 60/30 rotation schedule depending on company policy. Ideal for those with Middle East experience seeking challenging managerial roles.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Marine Engineering, or related field
- Minimum 15+ years in marine construction, with 8+ years in a managerial role on large-scale EPC projects including ports, jetties, offshore platforms, dredging
- Strong knowledge of marine civil works, dredging, piling, and coastal engineering
- PMP, NEBOSH/IOSH, and marine construction-related certifications (preferred)
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Project, Primavera, and marine construction software
- Previous experience in Middle East/GCC projects (Qatar, UAE, Saudi Arabia) preferred
- Familiarity with Qatar construction regulations and marine authority requirements preferred
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise marine construction activities, ensuring compliance with project specifications, schedules, and budgets
- Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and subcontractors to ensure seamless execution
- Manage dredging, reclamation, piling, quay wall, breakwater, and jetty construction
- Ensure adherence to HSE standards and local regulations
- Oversee marine equipment including dredgers, barges, cranes, piling rigs, and vessel operations
- Monitor progress, prepare daily/weekly reports, and mitigate risks and delays
- Liaise with clients, consultants, and government authorities for approvals and inspections
- Manage subcontractors, vendors, and labor to ensure productivity and quality
