Due to exciting growth in our Sydney office, join as a Principal Highways Engineer in the core Civil Infrastructure business unit. Lead civil engineering design and delivery on diverse small to large scale multi-disciplinary projects in the NSW Team. Play a key part in project success.
Liaise and represent Arcadis with key clients and contractors while providing technical leadership on projects. Take responsibility for civil and highways design aspects including road alignment, earthworks, and construction staging. Collaborate with other disciplines to ensure design integrity and client expectations.
Supervise junior engineers, road designers, and CAD Technicians, guiding their professional development. Build enduring client relationships and promote technical and commercial risk awareness. Pioneer a skill-based approach to harness unique expertise and create a lasting legacy together.
Requirements
- Collaborative approach and appreciation of the value of teamwork

- Passion for continuous improvement, quality and improving service for clients
- Extensive design experience (>10 years) delivering transport and civil infrastructure projects
- Relevant engineering degree with Chartered status or equivalent professional accreditation
- Demonstrated technical and commercial acumen with proven experience managing and delivering design solutions
- Proven ability to lead, with good influencing, motivation and delegation skills
- Sound knowledge and experience working with local design standards including Austroads Guide to Road Design and specifications
Responsibilities
- Liaison, interface and represent Arcadis with key clients and contractors
- Provide technical leadership for selected projects, managing resource allocation and collaborating with design disciplines
- Take technical responsibility for all aspects of civil and highways design including road alignment, road furniture, signs & lines, earthworks, construction staging, and constructability
- Understand client businesses to build effective relationships and industry credibility
- Provide direction to the project team, promoting awareness of technical and commercial risks, mitigation, and best value design
- Supervise and assess junior engineers, road designers and CAD Technicians, guiding project delivery and professional development
