We have a fantastic opportunity for an Assistant Geotechnical Engineer / Geotechnical Engineer to join our Amey Consulting team in Scotland. The team designs some of the largest civil engineering and infrastructure projects across Scotland with values exceeding £1bn. Amey manages substantial Transport Scotland assets through trunk road Network Management Contracts.
You will play an important part in delivering geotechnical engineering projects across the UK, Republic of Ireland and internationally. Take responsibility for discreet geotechnical investigation and design deliverables while providing support to Senior Engineers. Undertake production of technical designs as part of a skilled multidisciplinary team including Highway, Bridge, Geotechnical and Environmental Engineering.
You will be involved in every stage of projects from inception to completion and empowered to challenge yourself. Thrive within a supportive and collaborative team on a diverse portfolio of major roads, bridges and civil design projects. Support development of Graduate Engineers, Degree Apprentices and Technicians.
Requirements
- BSc, BEng, MEng, or MSc in an appropriate ground engineering related subject (geotechnical/geological science or Civil Engineering + Geotechnics or equivalent)
- Working towards Chartered or Incorporated status as defined by the Engineering Council, Geological Society of London or another relevant professional body
- Proven ability to work within a team environment with a dedicated approach to meet project deadlines
- Developing experience and expertise within the relevant technical field, gained in a Graduate Engineer role or equivalent
- Enthusiasm to learn and develop technical skills
- Ability to contribute to the production of technically sound engineering solutions under supervision, complying with all relevant technical standards and client requirements
- Previous experience of using relevant Geotechnical design
Responsibilities
- Assist in the planning and execution of desk studies and ground investigations
- Assist in the development of outline and detailed designs, supporting a wider multidisciplinary team
- Implement innovative design solutions for geotechnical projects
- Comply with relevant health, safety and environmental legislation particularly CDM regulations
- Carry out site visits, surveys, inspections and construction supervision
- Provide support to Senior Engineers within the design team
- Produce technical designs across a diverse portfolio of projects
- Support development of Graduate Engineers, Degree Apprentices and Technicians
