Following its recent acquisition by SLR, it forms part of a leading global environmental and sustainability consultancy. The firm assists clients in “Making Sustainability Happen” across projects worldwide.
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic early career highways engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have between 1 and 3 years of post-qualification experience in a highways/civils focused role, preferably in engineering consultancy. Project work will be varied with a strong focus on renewable energy, infrastructure and residential schemes.
The highways team works alongside several other engineering and environmental professionals, including civil and structural engineers, drainage engineers, geotechnical engineers, planners, archaeologists, arboriculturists, landscape architects and ecologists. Experience of working within a multidisciplinary team is desirable. Projects are within Wales and the South West, occasionally further afield within the UK.
Assist in highway design, site inspections, 3D modelling, technical reports and compliance with standards. Collaborate with senior engineers, project managers and the wider team. Enjoy hybrid working, professional development and a range of benefits supporting work-life balance.
Requirements
- Good level of both academic and professional qualifications in highways/civils or a related discipline
- Experience of a range of projects including earthworks design and 3D modelling, highways design, drainage design, flood risk assessments, site services provision, report writing and production
- Experience of assisting with submissions to the Highway Authority for technical approval and working with sectional agreements
- Experience of using Civil 3D software, or similar
- Knowledge of the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges and the Manual of Contract Documents for Highway Works
- Flexible approach to work and sometimes working away from home (expenses paid)
- Full UK driving licence essential and access to own car essential
Responsibilities
- Assist in the design and development of highway projects
- Conduct site inspections and surveys
- Assist in the design of highways 3D modelling
- Prepare technical reports and documentation
- Collaborate with senior engineers and project managers
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations
- Be an active member of the highways team and work collaboratively with the wider engineering service area
